El Centro has three school districts within its boundary. McCabe Union Elementary School District provides k - 8 education to children outside the city limits. El Centro School District offers a comprehensive educational program for approximately 6,350 students at nine elementary schools, one middle school and one junior high school. The district provides a variety of educational programs suitable to the needs of a nult-ethnic and varied socio-economic community. The District is governed by a five member board of education and employs approximately 360 certified and 345 classified staff
The Central Union High School District includes two four-year comprehensive high schools and one alternative education school. The 3,450 students have access to a wide range of curricula offerings that conform to state guidelines, model curriculum and the University of California requirements. The District is supported by more than 350 certified and classified staff. The District is governed by a five member Board of Trustees
Opportunities to attend college are available through Imperial Valley College, and San Diego State University, Calexico Campus. El Centro also has many vocational training programs as well.
